hardware based TV Ambient-Light "SCIMO" - connection examples
Some examples how SCIMO can be connected to PC or TV systems
SCIMO connection diagram (using video signal from TV)
Note: If your TV is able to output video signal on connectors like SCART, S-Video or Composite than SCIMO can direcly connected to TV. Please check manual of your TV if connector is available (mostly SCART is available) and TV in forwarding video signal to this connector. If it does then Ambient-Light function is available when using internal tuner from TV (DVB-C, DVB-T, DVB-S) .
SCIMO connection diagram "HDMI Bypass" (using HDMI from external device e.g. DVD-Player, PS3 ...)
Note: This connection diagram is a example solution how HDMI signal can be used for Ambient-Light hardware "SCIMO".
The showed HDMI splitter and HDMI to S-Video converter are 3rd party devices and not part of SCIMO hardware.
FAQ: Reduced video quality on TV ? - Using an HDMI to S-Video converter in one of both HDMI path won't lead to low S-Video quality on other HDMI path. Resulting video quality for TV depends on converter, if converter supports Full-HD like TV does then resulting quality is Full-HD.
SCIMO connection diagram (using video signal from external device)
Note: If your external video source (e.g. HD Receiver) has an dual output of video signal (HDMI and S-Video or SCART or Composite) than this connection scheme can be used without need of additional 3rd party device.
SCIMO connection diagram (using S-Video signal from PC or Laptop)
Note: If your PC or Laptop has S-Video output (mostly available) then SCIMO can be connected directly to PC, no additional software or driver is required on PC. To activate video signal for SCIMO, go to "display settings" in your OS and activate "dual monitor" output (Attention: Windows do not allow to use "advanced desktop" and "dual monitor = mirroring" at same time !)
SCIMO connection diagram (using HDMI signal from PC or Laptop)
Note: If your PC or Laptop has an free HDMI output then SCIMO can be connected to PC using an external "HDMI to S-Video converter", no additional software or driver is required on PC. To activate video signal for SCIMO, go to "display settings" in your OS and activate "dual monitor" output (Attention: Windows do not allow to use "advanced desktop" and "dual monitor = mirroring" at same time !)
SCIMO connection diagram (using two composite video sources)
To make use of this feature it is necessary to have composite video signals (not S-Video signal) and use a special cable adapter which has S-Video plug (male) on one side and two composite plugs (female) on other side. The desired composite signal can be chosen in config file by parameter "VideoSource" setting to "compositeA" or "compositeB".
